Learning resource for students of History at Key Stage 3
With the support of award winning writers, celebrated historians and Lancastrians fascinated by their city’s history, Port Stories brings Lancaster’s Georgian boom and maritime history to life and unearths some of the less well-known and, perhaps, darker stories.
This Learning Resource is for Key Stage 3 students, studying history.
It starts with what is known about Lancaster’s past and takes inspiration from the community research project to delve further into some of the neglected narratives.
The project has provided a lot of learning around research skills, accessing and interpreting information. This resource uses this learning to support young people to carry out a local study research project over eight sessions. Students will be able to contribute to Port Stories by uploading their research and creative responses to the website.
A key question for all involved was ‘Who owns history?’ and this theme is central to this resource.
